Will Smith and Joyner Lucas Team Up for “Tantrum”
Smith’s new song “Tantrum,” made with Joyner Lucas, is like a message to their younger selves who are still healing from tough times.
In the song, Smith talks about facing his fears, saying, “I’m about to face all this shit I been runnin’ from/ You might relate to the places I’m comin’ from,” and admits, “I got regrets, you heard about some of them.” These words tell us he’s been through some hard stuff but is ready to deal with it now.
An animated video comes with the single, showing cartoon Smith and Lucas overcoming challenges, like escaping the ocean, falling from tall buildings, and climbing desert mountains.
People sometimes find music speaks to them when life gets hard.
“Tantrum” is Smith’s third release this year, after “You Can Make It” and “Work of Art,” featuring other artists like Fridayy, Russ, and Jaden Smith. He even performed “You Can Make It” at the BET Awards in June, which was a big moment since he doesn’t perform live much.
Before dropping the track, Smith shared on Instagram that music has always helped him grow through tough times. He hopes it brings happiness and light to others too.
Smith recently played in San Diego and is set to headline a festival in France next year. It will be his first time performing there, at the Roman Theatre of Orange.
After his memorable 2022 Oscars incident with Chris Rock, Smith returned to acting in movies like “Emancipation” and “Bad Boys: Ride or Die.”
