Performance Spotlight
Six months after dropping her new album, Katie Crutchfield hit the stage on CBS Mornings’ “Saturday Sessions” with her band to play some tunes from it.
Mini-Concert
During this session, she rocked out three songs: “Crowbar,” the album’s main track “Tigers Blood,” and “Right Back to It.” Her band was there, but MJ Lenderman, who is in the studio version of the last song, wasn’t around.
A Hit Album
“Tigers Blood,” which is her sixth album, came out in March and got lots of praise. It even made it onto a list of the best albums of 2024. That same month, Katie had a chat with Rolling Stone about how this album follows her well-loved 2020 release, “Saint Cloud.”
People always love when their favorite artists open up about their creative process because it makes us feel closer to them.
Perfection in Every Note
Katie shared something interesting: she usually listens to her records before they come out, searching for any slip-ups. But with “Tigers Blood,” everything felt just right. She said, “Every word is in the correct place. Every melody is just right. There’s no question marks. There’s no need to obsess over every little detail.”
A Long Wait
Even though the album dropped in March, it was actually done a whole year before that. Katie talked about feeling nervous during that waiting period and how it kept building up. But now, she feels relieved and excited about her tour. She mentioned, “The band I’ve put together for this tour is really cool. I think that the shows are going to be really cool.”
