UK Reading Festival Apologizes to Renee Rapp, Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey’s mic was cut off early, and Reneé Rapp had to end her set because of a wet stage at the Reading & Leeds Festival.

Festival Apologies to Lana and Reneé

The Reading & Leeds Festival had to say sorry to two big stars, Lana Del Rey and Reneé Rapp, after technical issues and bad weather messed up their performances.

On Saturday, Lana Del Rey was headlining at Reading. She had planned to finish her show with “A&W” and “Young and Beautiful,” but those songs didn’t happen. Suddenly, her mic and video screens were turned off, and fireworks started. She just stood there and watched. The next day at Leeds, she got to do her full set.

“Due to an error by the Reading production team we accidentally cut Lana Del Rey’s incredible set short by 5 mins,” said the organizers. “We apologize unreservedly to Lana and her fans.”

Reneé Rapp had her own troubles on Sunday. A storm earlier that weekend canceled her Leeds show, and at Reading, water from the stage poured on her. She managed to sing four songs before leaving. “Guys, I really really really wanna give you a good show,” she told the crowd. “We are drenched. Some of our equipment is fucked.”

Reading apologized again: “We would like to thank Reneé Rapp for her perseverance and professionalism amidst the technical difficulties we have had to continue to deal with from Storm Lilian. We are desperately hoping, like you, that she will come back to R&L in the future.”

Fans hope they’ll return to the festival soon.

Rapp is set to perform in New York and Maryland in September. Lana Del Rey is preparing to release her country album Lasso.
