Band to Take Action and Donate Royalties
Donald Trump has upset Foo Fighters by using their song “My Hero” without asking.
At a rally in Arizona, Trump announced that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. had stopped his campaign and was now backing him. As Kennedy Jr. came on stage, “My Hero” played.
On social media, people asked if the band agreed to this. Foo Fighters replied, “No,” and confirmed it wasn’t allowed.
A band rep told Billboard they didn’t give permission and wouldn’t have if asked. They said they’ll take action to stop it and donate any royalties from the usage to Kamala Harris and Tim Walz’s campaign.
This isn’t the first time Trump’s campaign used songs without permission. Recently, Beyoncé threatened legal action for using her song “Freedom” in a video posted by Trump’s spokesman.
Trump has a history of using music at rallies without getting the artists’ OK, which has led to many artists pushing back and even threatening to sue.
Fans think it’s important for artists’ rights to be respected.
Sometimes, it’s just better to ask first.
