A New Kind of Twist
Last week, Trump accused Kamala Harris of using AI to inflate her rally sizes, but now he might have fallen for AI tricks himself.
Yesterday on Truth Social, Trump shared some images promoting a supposed “Swifties for Trump” movement. Some photos were real, featuring Jenna Piwowarczyk in a “Swifties for Trump” shirt at a rally in Wisconsin.
But others seemed fake, like an image of Taylor Swift dressed as Uncle Sam saying, “Taylor Wants You to Vote for Donald Trump.” Another image showed young women in matching shirts, clearly labeled as satire by a conservative meme account.
Trump took it seriously and captioned the collage with, “I accept!” This makes us wonder if he truly believes Swift supports him.
(To be fair, people also wrongly thought Swift was endorsing Harris last week because of a photo from her Eras Tour.)
Some conservatives are trying to make “Swifties for Trump” a thing, despite it feeling forced. There’s Piwowarczyk’s shirt and a video by Kandis Esposito pushing this narrative.
“I guess something with ISIS happened, there’s al to of terrorism going on, and I guess she [Swift] had to shut down some shows because of that,” Esposito said. “And a lot of them are just saying, ‘You know, if Trump was in office, this would’ve never, ever happened.’â€
Esposito likely refers to a terror plot in Vienna causing Swift to cancel shows. Even if Trump were president, he couldn’t have changed events in Austria. Austrian authorities handled it well.
Anyway, Swift hasn’t endorsed anyone for the 2024 election. She supported Biden and Harris in 2020 and has criticized Trump before.
