Illness Forces TLC to Cancel Two Concerts
Tionne Watkins fell sick, leading TLC to cancel two shows over the weekend.
The group, famous for songs like “No Scrubs,†“Waterfalls,†and “Creep,†was set to perform at the New York State Fair and Foxwoods Resort Casino. Shaggy was also supposed to perform with them in Connecticut.
TLC announced that Watkins had sudden nausea, vomiting, and severe stomach pain after a show in Toledo, Ohio. She was taken to the hospital in Syracuse and diagnosed with a serious stomach blockage. The doctor said it wasn’t food poisoning. Watkins was expected to leave the hospital by Sunday.
“Tionne deeply regrets having to cancel these shows and extends her sincere apologies to all her fans and the event promoters,†the group said. “TLC is committed to rescheduling the canceled shows and apologizes to all the fans, particularly those who traveled long distances to attend. The group appreciates the understanding and support.â€
People always appreciate when artists care about their fans.
TLC started in Atlanta in 1990 with Watkins, Rozonda Thomas, and Lisa Lopes. They were huge in the ’90s and early 2000s. After Lopes died in a car crash in 2002, Watkins and Thomas continued as a duo.
Their next concerts are planned for August 31 in Highland Park, Illinois, and September 1 in Welch, Minnesota.
