Pride in Her Work
“I just want to make music and art that I’m proud of,†Whack shared. “That’s it. Period. I can name ‘Caught Out There’ by Kelis: I love that song. I wish I made it. If I can make a song and be so proud of it, like I can’t believe that I made it, I’m good. That’s all I need. I just want to be proud of my own art.â€
She added that her career is about staying true to herself and having fun while doing what she loves.
Upcoming Festival
Whack will co-headline the Carolinadaze Music & Arts Festival Series with Janelle Monáe on Sept. 14. The event, organized by Common Cause North Carolina, will be held at the Red Hat Amphitheater in Raleigh and feature artists like Moses Sumney, Lute, and Helado Negro.
