Suburban Snitching Fun
Andy Samberg and Charli XCX teamed up for a funny song about being nosy neighbors on Saturday Night Live.
The Lonely Island made another appearance on the show, with Charli XCX joining them for a song called “Here I Go,” all about suburban tattletales. Samberg plays a man who loves calling the police on people doing things he thinks are wrong, like putting trash in the wrong place.
In the video, Samberg sings about how much he loves snitching, saying, “There’s something on the mind for a long time/A special passion of mine/I do it every chance that I find.” He even gets excited when he sees someone doing something bad so he can report them.
Charli XCX shows up during the song as Samberg’s wife, who is just as keen on telling the cops about everyone. She sings, “Hold up, wait a minute/’Cause I’m about to snitch like I invented it.” Her character dares people to park too close to their house, ready to call the police.
Fans often enjoy these silly stories because they make us laugh about things we see in real life.
By the end of the song, the couple happily calls the police on a Girl Scout selling cookies and a dog using their lawn as a bathroom, getting both taken away by the police.
The Lonely Island’s Return
The Lonely Island, which includes Samberg, Akiva Schaffer, and Jorma Taccone, came back to SNL for its 50th season. They had a new skit idea involving a “Sushi Glory Hole.” They were known for creating popular Digital Shorts like “Shy Ronnie” with Rihanna and “Dick in a Box” with Justin Timberlake during their time from 2005 to 2012.
Since Samberg left SNL, he has popped up in a few episodes, including one where he played Doug Emhoff alongside Kamala Harris in the show’s 50th season opener.
