Charts Update
Taylor Swift’s album, The Tortured Poets Department, is back at Number One after being out of the top spot for two weeks.
The Tortured Poets Department has now spent 13 weeks at the top of the Billboard 200, surpassing her previous records with Red and 1989, which each held the Number One position for 11 weeks. This achievement was reported by Billboard when the album reached its 12th week.
Recently, new albums by Eminem and Stray Kids had pushed Swift’s album down to Number Four. However, thanks to a strong week of sales totaling 71,000 units, The Tortured Poets Department reclaimed the Number One position. This makes it the 13th non-consecutive week at the top, which happens to be Swift’s favorite number.
To secure a potential 14th week at Number One, Swift has released a special version of one of her songs, "My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys," titled the “First Draft Phone Memo†version.
Other Albums in the Top 10
Stray Kids, who were Number One last week, fell to Number Six with their album ATE. Morgan Wallen’s One Thing at a Time, which dominated the charts for 19 weeks between March 2023 and March 2024, rose to Number Two. Zach Bryan’s Great American Bar Scene claimed the Number Three spot.
Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess hit a new peak at Number Four, likely boosted by her viral Lollapalooza performance. Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft followed at Number Five.
I love how music can bring so many surprises.
The charts always seem to have a way of changing unexpectedly, don’t they?
