The massive Eras tour, attended by over 10 million fans, finally wrapped up this weekend after an impressive 149 shows.
The Epic Journey Comes to a Close
After almost two years on the road, Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour has finished. She spent more than 520 hours performing about 50 songs and released three albums, including two re-recordings and one huge collection with 31 tracks. Despite these accomplishments, the big story is the enormous $2 billion-plus made from ticket sales.
A Ticket Frenzy
The New York Times says that millions were part of this tour. In just two weeks after announcing the tour in November 2022, it became clear how big this was going to be. On Instagram, Swift wrote, “It’s truly amazing that 2.4 million people got tickets, but it really pisses me off that lot of them feel like they went through several bear attacks to get them,” showing her frustration with Ticketmaster troubles.
Fans Flock to Stadiums
Ticket numbers and cash kept growing as the tour continued. Stadiums filled every seat, even those with blocked views, and released last-minute tickets. Some fans went to just one show, while others returned whenever they could.
People can’t stop talking about this tour’s impact and experience.
One fan, who managed to attend 20 shows, told Rolling Stone last year, “Once I went to the first show, and I realized how insane of a show this was, and how much fun it was to be there with all of my friends who were just as big Taylor Swift fans as I was, I think that’s when I realized I was going to end up doing more than I ever planned on.”
A Record-Breaking Achievement
With its more than $2 billion earnings, the Eras tour is now the top-grossing tour ever. Earlier, in 2023, it was reported the tour had reached $1 billion, but exact figures weren’t given then. Before Taylor’s tour broke records, Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres tour held the title with over $1 billion in sales and nearly 9.3 million tickets sold.
