Stray Kids Make History with Latest Album
Stray Kids’ newest release, Hop, has shot to the top of the Billboard 200 chart, marking their sixth album in a row to debut at Number One. They’ve achieved a groundbreaking feat by being the first act to have their initial six albums all claim the top spot, as reported by Billboard.
In the past, the group also celebrated Number One hits with albums like Oddinary and Maxident from 2022, and Rock-Star, 5-Star, and ATE from 2023. Their recent success has now surpassed DMX, who had the same streak with his first five albums.
The numbers are impressive, with Hop securing 187,000 equivalent album units. Most of this comes from album sales at 176,000, while streaming adds another 10,000 units, and track equivalents contribute 1,000 more.
Fans find it exciting when artists break records, showing how music continues to bring joy.
Other albums in the Top Five include Kendrick Lamar’s GNX, holding steady at Number Two with 100,000 units. Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department slides to third place with 85,000 units. Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet climbs to Number Four with 69,000 units, and Michael Bublé’s festive Christmas moves up to fifth with 68,000 units.
As the holiday season approaches, Bing Crosby’s Ultimate Christmas leaps to Number Six with 65,000 units sold. Meanwhile, Mariah Carey’s classic Merry Christmas makes its way to Number Ten, earning 56,000 units.
