Smashing Pumpkins Rock Jimmy Kimmel Live
Smashing Pumpkins rocked the outdoor stage of Jimmy Kimmel Live, thrilling fans with their latest song "Sighommi."
Billy Corgan led the band through "Sighommi," a song filled with heavy guitar sounds from their new album Aghori Mhori Mei, which came out in August. James Iha and Kiki Wong were on guitars, Jimmy Chamberlin played drums, Jack Bates handled the bass, and Katie Cole provided backing vocals.
While only “Sighommi” was broadcast officially, the band played a total of five songs for the live audience. They followed up with “Jellybelly” from Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, covered U2’s “Zoo Station,” and finished with “Tonight, Tonight” and “1979.”
It’s so fun to see these performances come back after the pandemic and Hollywood strikes!
Earlier this year, the outdoor stage at Jimmy Kimmel Live reopened. Since then, many artists like Cage the Elephant, Chris Stapleton, Jelly Roll, and Green Day have performed there.
As of now, Smashing Pumpkins haven’t announced any tour dates for Aghori Mhori Mei. Fans can only catch these new songs at special shows like this one.
“With Aghori Mhori Mei, Corgan has returned to thrashy, and more compact, basics: a mere 10 songs, heavy on the thud,” Rolling Stone wrote. “With the Pumpkins reduced to its core original trio — Corgan, guitarist James Iha, and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin — the album demonstrates that they’ve lost little of their brute force. As tracks like “Sighommi” show, they can still riff up a Twisters-of-rock storm, partying like it’s 1999.”
