Rick Astley and Blossoms Cover Charli XCX 360

Rock Meets Pop

Rick Astley and the band Blossoms teamed up to give a rock twist to Charli XCX’s “360” at the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge.

A New Spin

In the video, Tom Ogden from Blossoms takes charge of most of the singing, but then Astley jumps in with his own verse, adding a cool vibe by mixing in Stardust’s 1998 tune “Music Sounds Better With You.” Ogden mentioned that they’ve been loving this song, especially since it became a hit during the Brat summer. He thinks it’s an awesome pop track.

Fans really enjoy it when musicians try something new and surprising.

Earlier this year, Astley showed he’s into today’s pop by performing Olivia Rodrigo’s “Drivers License” at BBC Radio 2’s Piano Room. He sang with the BBC Concert Orchestra and even did a mix of his famous song “Never Gonna Give You Up” with Ed Sheeran’s “Shape Of You.”

A Bit of Smiths Nostalgia

Astley and Blossoms once performed together, doing Smiths covers that Johnny Marr described as “both funny and horrible at the same time.” They later surprised everyone with more Smiths songs at Glastonbury in 2023.
