Paula Abdul Cancels Canada Tour Due to Injuries

The 21-city trek was scheduled to kick off later this month

Paula Abdul shared that her Straight Up! to Canada Tour won’t happen as planned. This tour, which was supposed to start on September 25 in Victoria, British Columbia, also featured Taylor Dayne and Tiffany as the opening acts.

She posted on social media, “It’s with an incredibly heavy heart that I need to share with you an update regarding some injuries I’ve recently sustained,” adding that while targeted injections provided some relief, they couldn’t support the demands of a full tour.

After talking with her doctors, Abdul found out she needs a minor procedure and a 6-8 week recovery. This means she can’t go ahead with the Canadian tour or her shows in Alaska and North Dakota.

She apologized deeply to her fans in Canada and the US, expressing how much they mean to her and how sad this makes her. Although no new date has been set, she promised, “I’ll be back, stronger and better, dancing my heart out and performing for all of you very soon, to give you the show you deserve.”

Earlier in the week, Abdul celebrated her song “Cold Hearted” from her 1988 album Forever Your Girl reaching Number One on the Billboard Hot 100. She shared on Instagram, “The magic of performing this song and choreography still feels as special as it was the first time.”
