The NFL is gearing up for the new season, and Taylor Swift is still a hot topic. They released a promo video that highlights last year’s best moments, including touchdowns, celebrations, and shots of Swift cheering for her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.
The 30-second video goes month-by-month through the 2023-2024 season. It starts in September with Swift’s first appearance at a Chiefs game. Then, October and November focus on athletes and Dolly Parton before showing Swift again in January, walking through Arrowhead Stadium in a Chiefs jacket.
In the final seconds, the video feels like a fan-made clip of Swift and Kelce’s romance. It shows them kissing on the field and Swift chugging a beer at the Super Bowl where the Chiefs won again.
Fans think it’s kind of cool to see how Swift has become a big deal in the NFL world. After she started showing up at games, more people, especially women, tuned in. Kelce jerseys even sold 400% more after her first Chiefs game. According to USA Today, Swift got 55 seconds of screen time during Super Bowl LVIII, while New York Times reported she averaged around 25 seconds in other games she attended.
In October, Kelce admitted on his podcast that the league’s focus on Swift at his games felt “a little excessive.” He said, “I think it’s fun when they show who all is at the game. I think it brings a little bit more to the atmosphere, brings a little bit more to what you’re watching. But at the same time, they’re overdoing it a little bit for sure… especially my situation. I think they’re trying to have fun with it.â€
The NFL didn’t expect this love story, but they’re definitely making the most of it this season.
