Lil Durk Not Guilty in Murder-for-Hire Case, Trial Date Set

Lil Durk, a well-known rapper, is saying he didn’t do it after being accused of planning a murder.

Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks, went to court and said he’s not guilty. They want his trial to start in January 2025, but for now, he’s staying in jail in Los Angeles. Prosecutors are worried he might run away because when they arrested him in Miami, he was about to leave on a private jet to Italy.

Authorities think Durk planned the whole thing because he wanted revenge for his friend King Von, who died in a shooting in 2020. They say Durk’s group, Only the Family, did more than just make music; they also got into violent stuff.

Fans wonder if this is all true or just a big misunderstanding.

A famous lawyer, Drew Findling, is now helping Durk. He’s worked with big names before. Durk will go back to court soon to talk about the case again.

The indictment claims that Durk’s crew traveled from Chicago to Los Angeles last year to find Quando Rondo. They spent hours trying to catch him, and it all ended at a gas station where someone fired lots of bullets. They say one of those bullets hit Quando’s cousin, who sadly died.

They have some records showing a link between Durk and the travel plans. There’s even talk about ski masks and hotel payments made by someone with Durk’s credit card.

An FBI agent believes Durk was trying to get out of the country when they caught him. He had flights booked to Dubai and Switzerland, but he didn’t get on those planes. If found guilty, things could get really serious for Durk with a long time in prison.

“Mr. Banks is charged with orchestrating a cold-blooded murder that resulted in the death of a rival’s family member,” said the U.S. Attorney. The shooting happened in a public place and put many people in danger, which is something they can’t overlook.
