Liam Payne had alcohol, cocaine, and a prescribed antidepressant in his system when he passed away last month, according to Buenos Aires prosecutors.
“This conclusion was reached after complete toxicological analysis on urine, blood, and vitreous humor samples, carried out in a very short time,” stated the prosecutor, adding the family was informed about these results.
Local news reports suggested that Payne might have had “pink cocaine” in his body, a mix of MDMA, ketamine, and meth. But this was not confirmed in the latest official statement from prosecutors.
Through video footage and documents, prosecutors found out he got drugs four times while at a hotel between Oct. 13 and 16. They said he used the substances within 72 hours before his death.
Three people, including a friend, a hotel worker, and an alleged drug dealer, face charges for giving him drugs. The friend might even face 5 to 15 years in prison for abandoning him leading to death.
Fans are really shocked by this news.
Reports from La Nación mentioned that the friend claimed to be Payne’s manager in Argentina, but he wasn’t. He also didn’t inform Payne’s family about his struggles with drugs.
Payne’s body was moved back to Great Britain for his funeral. Before this, the authorities conducted various studies on his body before allowing his father, Geoff, to take him home to England.
