Kendrick Lamar to Headline 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show

Kendrick Lamar to Headline Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show

Three years after joining Dr. Dre at the Super Bowl, Kendrick Lamar is set to headline his own halftime show.

Just before the 2024 NFL season began, the NFL, Roc Nation, and Apple Music announced that Lamar will perform at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9, 2025, for the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show.

Lamar stated, “Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”

Jay-Z praised Lamar, saying, “Kendrick Lamar is truly a once-in-a-generation artist and performer. His deep love for hip-hop and culture informs his artistic vision. He has an unparalleled ability to define and influence culture globally. Kendrick’s work transcends music, and his impact will be felt for years to come.”

People are thrilled to see such a unique artist take the stage.

Lamar, along with Dave Free’s pgLang, will be the creative directors for the halftime performance. Seth Dudowsky from the NFL added, “Few artists have impacted music and culture as profoundly as Kendrick Lamar. Time and time again, Kendrick has proven his unique ability to craft moments that resonate, redefine, and ultimately shake the very foundation of hip-hop.”

In 2024, Lamar had a major rap battle with Drake, creating hits like “Meet the Grahams,” “6:16 in LA,” “Euphoria,” and “Not Like Us.” By summer’s end, Rolling Stone declared Lamar the winner, and his Super Bowl gig only confirmed it.

Super Bowl LIX will be held on February 9, 2025, at New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome, marking the stadium’s eighth time hosting the event and first since 2013, with Fox airing the broadcast.

Lamar’s last album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, was released in 2022. He follows recent halftime performers like Usher in 2024, Rihanna in 2023, Dr. Dre and friends in 2022, the Weeknd in 2021, and Shakira and Jennifer Lopez in 2020.
