Unexpected Encounter at the Ice Cream Shop
Over the weekend, some boys had a hard time believing they were standing next to Katy Perry in their local ice cream shop. She later shared a funny video on Monday of her and her sister Angela Lerche surprising these kids at McConnell’s Ice Cream, where they were trying out the “Baby You’re a Firework Blue Raspberry” flavor.
Katy and Angela stopped by the ice cream parlor in Santa Barbara to taste the special flavor, which helps raise funds for their Firework Foundation. The clip shows Katy saying, “It’s late and we had a sweet tooth!” as they walk in, while one kid notices her blue ice cream choice.
“Guys, what if I told you it was my ice cream,” Katy playfully asks the skeptical youngsters. One boy responds in disbelief, “You’re Katy Perry? She’s Katy Perry? No, you’re not.”
Though Katy showed them her ID that read Katheryn Hudson, her real name, the kids still doubted her identity. She insists, “That’s me, I’m Katy Perry,” but they remain unconvinced.
Lerche chimes in, “Do you believe her now?” but even after examining her driver’s license, one kid shakes his head.
“But why is your last name Perry?” questions another boy. Laughing, Katy suggests, “You know what? It’s fine! Just have some ice cream.”
Afterward, one mom shared a selfie with Katy and the kids, mentioning how excited they were. She commented, “That’s my son. He needs alllll the details . Thank you for the ice cream @katyperry.”
Fans love seeing moments like this because they remind us that celebs are just people too.
A portion of the sales from the Perry flavor supports the Firework Foundation, which hosts a summer camp for children from underserved areas, helping them explore creativity.
This amusing ice cream outing happened shortly after Katy wowed audiences at Rock in Rio and the AFL Grand Final, following the release of her sixth album, “143.”
