Juanes and Goyo Perform at Live Musicians on Musicians

Evening in Miami with Juanes and Goyo

On a warm Miami night, a small group of special guests gathered at the Nautilus Sonesta Miami Beach for a unique event featuring Juanes and Goyo.

The guests, who were part of the Sonesta Travel Pass program, enjoyed the cozy atmosphere of the Bridge Room next to the stylish lobby. A DJ played a mix of Latin music, including urbano, reggaeton, and cumbia, while attendees sipped on drinks and nibbled on snacks. Rolling Stone’s Deputy Music Editor, Julyssa Lopez, kicked off the evening. “I’m so excited to be here because Musicians on Musicians is one of my favorite things we do at the magazine,” she said. “And because of our partnership with Sonesta, we can now bring it to a live audience.”

Following her introduction, Lopez welcomed Juanes and Goyo on stage. Although they are at different stages in their careers, their journeys share similarities. Juanes, a Grammy- and Latin Grammy-winning artist, started with the rock band Ekhymosis. Goyo was part of the Latin Grammy-winning group ChocQuibTown. Reflecting on his solo career, Juanes shared, “I remember that time of confusion because I had spent 12 years performing with friends, and it was always in mind taking that route toward creative freedom,” he said in Spanish. “I think it is worth listening to your heart, and if you made the decision, give it your all and trust in yourself.”

They also talked about balancing their careers with family life. Goyo mentioned how she embraces her many roles. “When people ask me, ‘What do you feel you are: an artist or a woman?’ I always respond by saying, ‘I’m a whole person.’ I have many roles — I’m a mother, a woman, an artist, a rapper,” she explained. “I think it’s important that people outside looking in and accepting our music understand that. It’s not that you’re doing more or less.”

Fans love seeing their favorite artists talk about their lives.

After their chat, Goyo came back with her band for a 30-minute set. She sang songs like “Na Na Na” and “Insomnia,” plus a ChocQuibTown hit “Nuqui (Te Quiero Para Mi)” and even teased an unreleased track. The audience was thrilled, clapping along and enjoying every moment.
