Musical Tribute for Mark Lanegan
In London, friends and musicians gathered to celebrate Mark Lanegan on what would have been his 60th birthday.
A group of artists, including Josh Homme, Dave Gahan, Chrissie Hynde, and Greg Dulli, came together at a concert to remember their dear friend. The event took place at the Roundhouse and featured 30 songs from Lanegan’s career, showcasing his work with Screaming Trees, his solo projects, and collaborations.
Homme, who often collaborated with Lanegan, returned to the stage after health issues to perform "Carnival" from Whiskey for the Holy Ghost. Dave Gahan kicked off the night with four songs, including "Kingdoms of Rain." It was a powerful start to an emotional evening.
Chrissie Hynde teamed up with the Soulsavers, delivering beautiful renditions of “Kimiko’s Dream House,” “Halcyon Daze,” and the lesser-known "Revelator" from Screaming Trees.
The night wrapped up with a three-song encore. Everyone joined in for Screaming Trees’ “Dollar Bill,” Soulsavers’ “Revival,” and Lanegan’s “Hit the City.”
This special tribute was put together by Lanegan’s family and his foundation. He passed away in February 2022 due to complications from long Covid, leaving behind a legacy of music that continues to inspire.
Not too long ago, a special edition of Lanegan’s 2004 album Bubblegum was released. It includes rare tracks and a collaboration with Beck.
