Jade Releases New Single Midnight Cowboy Featuring Ncuti Gatwa

Jade’s New Path Outside Little Mix

Jade Thirlwall is finding her own way after Little Mix. Earlier this year, she introduced her first solo song, “Angel of My Dreams,” which talks about pop fame and the music industry. Now, she has released another track, “Midnight Cowboy,” a lively club song that connects to her first single.

“I didn’t want you all to have to wait so long for music again,” Jade shared on social media, calling the new song “a gift from me to you until my next single drops.” The song features actor Ncuti Gatwa’s voice, who sets the scene with, “Ladies and gentlemen, theys and thems, hold on tight, the performance is about to begin.”

A visualizer for “Midnight Cowboy” came out too. Directed by Fa & Fon, it starts with Jade removing her red wig, sunglasses, and leather jacket, then dancing among water fountains while cameras flash around her.

“It’s been a crazy couple of months, and seeing all the passion for ‘Angel Of My Dreams’ has felt like such a fantasy,” Jade wrote on X (formerly Twitter). She said she wanted to share more music with her fans while working on her next big release. She made the song with Raye and Jonah Christian.

“Big ty Ncuti for very jumping on the track – you were perfect. Fa and Fon you smashed this video. Love working with you so much that I didn’t mind freezing my tits off in a fountain in Walthamstow for you,” Jade added with a laugh.

In 2022, Little Mix decided to take a break so each member could work on solo projects. Leigh-Anne Pinnock dropped “Don’t Say Love” in June 2023, and Perrie Edwards started her solo career in April with “Forget About Us.” Jade was the last to go solo with “Angel of My Dreams.”

Fans love seeing them find their own voices.

“I’m a huge pop fan, and when I look at the pop girlies that I love, they’re the ones that are doing the absolute most. The looks, the choreo, the big songs, big choruses — give it to me! That’s what I want and that’s what I want to deliver,” Jade told Billboard in July. She feels starting solo now is better because she’s more level-headed. “We’ll see what happens.”

Isn’t it exciting how each member is exploring their own sound?
