Hozier’s SNL Return
The Irish musician returned to SNL, showing off his hit from 2024 and doing a festive cover.
Hozier came back to the famous show after first appearing in 2014 when he performed "Take Me to Church." This time, he started with "Too Sweet," which Rolling Stone praised for its retro feel and put on their top songs list. He later played a Christmas classic by the Pogues.
His latest EP, called Unheard, has four tracks meant for his 2023 album, Unreal Unearth. One of those songs is "Too Sweet," which he almost left out because he thought people wouldn’t like it. "Maybe it’s the pessimist in me," he explained, thinking no one wanted to hear it.
Fans sometimes don’t realize how much artists doubt themselves.
Surprisingly, "Too Sweet" became his biggest hit since "Take Me to Church."
He came back on stage to sing a well-loved Irish ballad from the Pogues’ 1988 album, often played around Christmas in Ireland and the UK. His tour for Unreal Unearth ended last month in New Zealand, and his next U.S. show will be in Milwaukee in June.
