Halsey Announces The Great Impersonator Release Date and Cover Art

The singer shared that her album was made “in the space between life and death”.

Halsey’s fans, rejoice! Her fifth album, The Great Impersonator, is coming out on October 25. She also showed one version of the album’s cover: a self-portrait that looks like an old newspaper ad.

“I made this record in the space between life and death,” she wrote online. “And it feels like I’ve waited an eternity for you to have it. I’ll wait a bit longer. I’ve waited a decade, already.”

Just yesterday, she began a scavenger hunt where fans could find five different album covers. Before that, on August 27, Halsey dropped a trailer for her new “confessional concept album,” which was almost a minute and a half long. The clip showed how her music might have been seen if it came out in past decades like the 2000s or even the Seventies. This album will use music to travel through time.

“I really thought this album might be the last one I ever made. When you get sick like that, you start thinking about ways it could’ve all been different,” she said at the start of the video. “What if this isn’t how it all went down? 18-year-old Ashley becomes Halsey in 2014.”

Three years ago, Halsey released If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power. Her comeback started with a song called “The End,” which talks about her health issues, including Lupus SLE and a rare T-cell disorder. This track was also a tribute to her fans. In July, she put out “Lucky,” a pop song mixing Britney Spears’ hit with Monica’s “Angel of Mine.” Then in August, she gave us “Lonely Is the Muse,” a dark pop song about how her past loves affected her self-worth.

The Great Impersonator can now be pre-ordered here.
