GloRilla’s Exciting Announcement
Rihanna can relax now because the wait is over. Earlier this year, GloRilla posted some photos on Instagram. One of those was a screenshot of Rihanna asking about her debut album. On Thursday, GloRilla said her first album, called Glorious, will come out on Oct. 11.
“GLORIOUS da album dropping 10/11 So grateful to be sharing this with y’all,” she shared on Instagram. She showed the album cover where she looks straight at the camera, wearing shiny hoop earrings. She also teased her next single: “As a little treat I’m blessing y’all with HOLLON tonight at midnight,” she added. “AYEEEEE.”
GloRilla kicked off the year with hit songs like "Yeah Glo!" and "Wanna Be" featuring Megan Thee Stallion. Cardi B later joined in for a remix. Both songs were part of her EP, Ehhthang Ehhthang. She followed up with “TGIF,” a summer hit released while touring with Megan Thee Stallion. Now, "Hollon" is set to continue her streak of popular singles.
Fans have been waiting for Glorious for a long time. GloRilla’s big break came in 2022 with her Grammy-nominated song “F.N.F. (Let’s Go).” This success led to her collaboration with Cardi B on “Tomorrow 2.” Since then, she’s been focused on diversifying her music.
“I don’t want to be labeled as just a ratchet rapper, you know what I’m saying?” GloRilla told Rolling Stone in 2023. She talked about wanting her first album to show different styles. “Of course, I’m going to put my ratchet, fun stuff out because that’s what I blew up with. [But] I want to actually talk to people, let them know … I can talk some real stuff. I can go gospel. I can do a little R&B.”
She also mentioned, “I ain’t going to lie, I’m super nervous. I know people expect so much out of me. When they look at me, when they mention my name, they put me up there with the big dogs like Cardi, Nicki, Megan. I’m like, ‘Damn, I got to deliver like them.’ This got to be a Grammy-nominated album. And it’s going to be.”
We can’t wait to see what she comes up with next!
