What is EUSEXUA?

The title of FKA Twigs’ upcoming album, EUSEXUA, is not a word you’ll find in any dictionary. In a creative teaser trailer, she explains its meaning ahead of the album’s release on September 13.

EUSEXUA, pronounced /yoÍžoˈ seks yoÍžoˈ ä/, describes an all-consuming, euphoric feeling. “Eusexua is like a feeling of ‘I’m that bitch,’” someone says in the trailer. The clip features unique, model-like figures sharing their definitions of the term. Another voice adds, “Eusexua takes over who you are.” Someone else compares it to “shimmering rose petals on my skin.” Others say it can be a shared emotion.

Social Media Buzz

“Have you experienced EUSEXUA?” Twigs asked on social media while announcing the album. “Discover September 13.” On her official website, there’s a time stamp: “05:00:00, 14.09.24, London.” She previewed the album at a listening party in New York City.

The Journey to EUSEXUA

EUSEXUA is her first full-length album since 2019’s Magdalene. It follows her 2022 mixtape, Caprisongs. This release comes after she had to scrap many songs due to a leak last year. “I got hacked, somebody leaked 85 of my demos,” she shared on Instagram Stories in October. “Well done, no new music for a while now.”

When Twigs started fresh, she moved to Prague and found a lot of inspiration there. “I moved to Prague a couple summers ago, fell in love with techno,” she wrote on Discord. “The album isn’t techno but the spirit is there.” She described the album’s tone as “deep but not sad,” and added, “I’m not sad anymore.”
