Emily Armstrong Criticized: Danny Masterson, Scientology

The Mars Volta’s Cedric Bixler-Zavala has renewed his criticism of Emily Armstrong, Linkin Park’s new vocalist.

Last year, Cedric slammed Emily on Dead Sara’s Instagram for her ties to Scientology and support of convicted rapist Danny Masterson.

“Do your fans know about your friend Danny Masterson? Your rapist friend,” Cedric wrote in a comment on Dead Sara’s page.

Cedric’s wife, Chrissie Carnell-Bixler, accused Masterson of sexual assault, though he wasn’t convicted on her charges but was found guilty on others. He received a 30 years-to-life sentence. Chrissie is also part of a civil suit against him.

Fans wonder if there’s more behind these accusations that we don’t see.

Both Cedric and Chrissie left Scientology and say the Church has harassed them for seeking justice against Masterson, who is a prominent member. Emily has ties too: she was seen at the Scientology Celebrity Centre with Cedric in 2013 and at Masterson’s trial in 2020.

Last year, Cedric posted a comment on Dead Sara’s Instagram after Emily joined Linkin Park, which he then shared on his Stories, though it’s now deleted. Chrissie still has it up on her Stories.

“I’m surprised none of you wrote a letter on Danny Mastersons behalf since your corny ass singer showed up to support him in the prelims,” Cedric said, mentioning how Emily and other Scientologists harassed one of the Jane Does. He criticized their teachings, questioning their stance on homophobia in Dianetics. (Linkin Park and Emily did not respond to requests for comments.)

In her own Story, Chrissie called Emily a “hardcore Scientologist who supported a convicted serial rapist,” and accused the Church of various abuses, including trafficking and coverups of assaults. (The Church has denied these claims.)
