Doechii is taking everyone back to the ’90s with a new project that’s got fans buzzing.
She dropped a trailer for something called the "Denial Is a River Show," featuring the catchy theme tune from Family Matters, and said on Instagram that it’s coming on January 2, 2025.
The teaser shows Doechii in a house full of guests like Zach Fox, Schoolboy Q, Rickey Thompson, and Teezo Touchdown, all getting introduced like characters from the show where Steve Urkel was the star.
DJ Miss Milan, who pops up in the video, told everyone to get ready for some real-life sitcom fun. Baby Tate and SiR are also part of the chaos, where people dance in kitchens, hop out windows, smoke joints, and brawl in living rooms.
Though we’re not sure if this is a real TV show or just a music video, she’s urging folks to follow @DenialIsARiverShow on Instagram, hinting at something exciting with her pals.
"Denial Is a River" is a hit from her album Alligator Bites Never Heal, along with other songs like “Catfish” and “Nissan Altima.” She even did a version with Issa Rae recently.
In an interview, Doechii talked about how being raw and honest in "Denial Is a River" was scary for her. Fans think it’s funny, but she says it’s actually dark.
“This song is really just like people hearing how I am, the inner dialogue that I’m having with myself. Like, OK, maybe you should really unpack that,” she explained. “This is an inner dialogue that I’m having with the voices in my head. It just seems like I’m less crazy because I do it with a funny voice.”
