Dave Grohl Performs Impromptu Tenacious D ‘Tribute’ Cover: Watch

During a Foo Fighters show, the lead singer accidentally played part of a famous song.

Grohl’s Surprise Performance

Dave Grohl, known for his many musical contributions, once again thrilled fans by playing a bit of Tenacious D’s “Tribute.” He had played guitar and drums for this 2001 classic and even appeared in the music video as a demon. But this time, he surprised everyone during a Foo Fighters concert in Denver.

At the August 3rd event, Grohl took a moment to strum the familiar chords of “Tribute” while setting up his acoustic guitar for another song. Whether he planned it or it was just a spur-of-the-moment decision, no one knows for sure.

“You thought I was gonna play a Tenacious D song, didn’t ya?” Grohl joked. As he played, Rami Jaffee joined him with an accordion, creating a fun and unexpected performance. He smoothly sang the opening verse but then amusingly forgot some lyrics.

“I don’t actually know that song!” Grohl laughed, reminding everyone he originally only played drums on the track.

We all love moments like these in concerts.

Recent Issues for Tenacious D

Grohl’s nod to Tenacious D came at a difficult time for the band. Jack Black and Kyle Gass faced troubles after Gass made a controversial joke about the recent assassination attempt on Donald Trump during a performance in Australia. This led to a lot of backlash.

Following the incident, Black announced that Tenacious D would cancel their upcoming tour and put all future projects on hold. Gass even lost his talent agent due to the controversy. He did apologize on Instagram but later deleted the post.

Sometimes, things can get really complicated for celebrities.
