New Music Alert: Chlöe’s Album Incoming
Chlöe’s second solo album, titled Trouble in Paradise, is set to release this Friday, August 9th.
In an Instagram post, she shared a photo of herself in a pool and wrote, "A storm is coming," revealing the album’s drop date and sharing a presave link. It’s not clear if the image is the album cover, but it’s pinned on her profile.
Talking to Nylon, Chlöe described the album as a "coming-of-age celebration" about enjoying life and being a woman. This LP, featuring Jeremih, Anderson .Paak, and her sister Halle, contrasts with her previous album In Pieces, which dealt with heartache and sadness.
The new album has a lot of Caribbean vibes. She told Billboard it was inspired by Afrobeats and island sounds. She’s already released two singles, "FYS" and "Boy Bye," and joined Qing Madi for a remix of "Vision" and Tinashe for "Nasty Girl" this year.
Sometimes I think music really helps people feel better.
“‘Boy Bye’ is an anthem for anyone who needs to get rid of someone toxic and draining from their life,†Chlöe said in a statement. “It’s liberating and free. That’s how it feels to finally let go of dead weight that’s been keeping you down. Instead of being sad about releasing what’s not good for me, I celebrate it.â€
Her first solo album, In Pieces, came out in 2022 with features like Chris Brown, Future, and Missy Elliott. She once told Rolling Stone, “When I worry too much about outside opinions, or who can I please the most or who will I not please, that will defeat the whole purpose of what art is about. Not everybody’s supposed to like art. It’s all about perspective. And, you know, not everybody will see or hear the same thing the same.â€
