Charli XCX’s Brat Era: From Tutus to Sold-Out Arenas
Charli posted an old photo of herself in tutus and a wig, long before her Brat summer became famous.
Charli has waited for this moment for years and finally celebrated her sold-out U.K. arena shows by sharing a nostalgic 2000s picture on Friday. “Sold out UK arena tour in 2024 vs 2 tutus and a wig balancing on a chair playing to no one in 2008,” she wrote on Instagram. “Good things take time but love that I can say I’ve done both sooooo excited for these brat shows in the UK.”
For over ten years, Charli’s been known for pushing pop boundaries, but her recent success with Brat is unmatched. The album has become a major hit, with its bright green style dominating the summer.
Fans think it’s cool how an artist’s journey evolves over time.
After Kamala Harris started her 2024 presidential campaign, Charli tweeted, “Kamala Harris is BRAT.” This tweet went viral, creating many memes and boosting support for the nominee. Charli said she’s happy to help democracy in her own way.
Next month, a remixed version of Brat drops, featuring artists like Billie Eilish, Troye Sivan, and Lorde.
Besides the U.K. dates, Charli began the Sweat Tour with Sivan, performing in places like Detroit, Quebec, and Toronto. They’ll continue touring the U.S. through October, with a show in Columbus, Ohio, this Friday.
