Chappell Roan’s Midwest Princess Reaches Billboard High

Chappell Roan’s Album Soars

Chappell Roan’s album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, climbed to Number Two on the Billboard Albums chart this week.

Roan’s summer has been filled with major achievements, including hit songs and big festival performances at Governor’s Ball and Lollapalooza. Spotify revealed that streams of Midwest Princess have doubled over the last two months, contributing to the album moving 72,000 units this week.

In today’s fast-paced music industry, Midwest Princess has taken a different path. It has gradually gained popularity, unlike the usual instant hits or misses dictated by streaming. The song "Hot To Go!" celebrated its one-year anniversary last week, but the full album only debuted on the Billboard 200 in April at 127th place. By June, it was 16th, then reached the Top Five in July, and now it’s third.

We love seeing such a slow and steady rise in the music world.

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department continues to dominate, staying Number One for 15 weeks since April. This album has outsold the entire Top 10 combined for the first half of the year.

However, some fans are not happy with Swift. They think releasing many versions of her album has prevented artists like Billie Eilish and Charli XCX from reaching the top. Last week, Swift released two more limited editions, making the race for Number One even tighter. Swift beat Roan by 13,000 units this week, though Billboard noted she would still be Number One without any digital sales.

Even though Roan’s album is climbing steadily, reaching Number One might be tough. Post Malone’s new country album, F-1 Trillion, drops this week, featuring big names like Morgan Wallen, Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton, and Dolly Parton. This could make it harder for Roan to take the top spot.
