Chappell Roan Celebrates Big Milestone
A popular tune by Chappell Roan, “Good Luck, Babe!” has reached a billion streams on Spotify.
She happily called this achievement “cuckoo loco” on her social media and expressed gratitude to her fans, saying, “All I have to say is thank you ♡.”
The song came out back in April, crafted with help from Daniel Nigro and Justin Tranter. It’s about hoping for good outcomes for someone who’s ignoring destiny. Roan wanted it to be a big, catchy pop anthem, but writing it wasn’t easy. With lots of effort over months, they nailed the bridge—Roan calls it a 90s pop vibe, predicting future remorse for a careless partner. “I knew exactly what I wanted,” she said. “I wrote it in three minutes,” she added, full of emotion and not changing a word later.
It’s interesting how songs can touch so many people even without fancy music videos.
Since its release, the song has become huge, making Roan a notable name in pop. She avoided filming a music video despite her label’s push, simply because she felt too worn out. “I’m too tired,” she explained, noting the difficulty of shooting a music video while feeling drained. “It’s a hit without a video,” she mentioned, celebrating its success with just a lyric video.
Many other artists have taken to covering “Good Luck, Babe!”, like Muna and Franz Ferdinand. Franz Ferdinand’s singer, Alex Kapranos, praised the track, saying, “It’s just an amazing song by an incredible artist.” He noted that while some artists are divisive, everyone he knows seems to love Roan and her song.
