New Music Release
Bryan Ferry has dropped a new song, "Star," his first original in almost ten years.
Collaborating with Amelia Barratt on vocals and Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross from Nine Inch Nails, this track is part of Ferry’s upcoming collection, Retrospective: Selected Recordings 1973-2023.
This song started as a demo from the NIN duo and evolved into "Star" with Barratt taking the lead vocals. Ferry mentioned that he first worked with Barratt when she recorded an audiobook at his studio, and he was impressed by her writing. He said, “A couple of years ago I helped [Barratt] record an audiobook here in my studio. I was very impressed by her writing, and this is the first song we did together. I’m very excited about this new work – there’s a lot more to come.â€
In the past, Ferry mostly released reworked classics or cover albums. His latest reimagining of Bob Dylan’s “She Belongs to Me†will also be featured in the Retrospective collection.
Yet, "Star" is his first new original piece since his 2014 album Avonmore.
Retrospective: Selected Recordings 1973-2023 will include five discs that showcase different phases of his career, from B sides to genre-spanning tracks.
Fans are thrilled to hear this fresh tune after such a long wait.
