Despite facing many problems over the years, like losing members and legal issues, the band managed to pull through. At the end of their 2016 tour, Angus Young was the only original member left. Brian Johnson had to leave due to hearing issues, Phil Rudd was caught up in legal trouble in New Zealand, and Cliff Williams decided to retire. Stevie Young filled in for Malcolm Young since 2014.
Angus got everyone together again to record Power Up in 2020, but the pandemic hit, so touring was off the table. They finally performed at the Power Trip festival in 2023, but Rudd wasn’t there. Matt Laug stepped in. “It’s his dream gig,†said Campbell. “I’m so happy for him.”
Williams played at Power Trip but didn’t want to do a full tour, so Chris Chaney from Jane’s Addiction joined. Navarro commented on how good Chaney is, even if he ends up playing simple bass lines on stage.
The band kicked off their tour on May 17 in Germany, playing lots of old hits. Fans got some unexpected treats like “Stiff Upper Lip†and “If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It).†Johnson used a new in-ear monitor that sometimes caused problems, like messing up a whole verse of “Back in Black†in Spain.

No one knows what’s next for AC/DC. They haven’t toured North America since 2016, though they could easily sell out stadiums. It might depend on how well Johnson’s in-ear monitor works. We think there’s a good chance they’ll hit the road again. This band always finds a way.
