In a heartfelt message for World Mental Health Day, Hayley Williams shared her personal journey with mental health and the challenges many face in finding support.
At first, she didn’t realize how serious mental illness could be until she was diagnosed with depression and PTSD in 2018. Before that, doctors told her she had chronic fatigue, but she didn’t know mental health issues could impact her body too. She shared these insights on her hair dye company’s Instagram.
Reflecting on her experiences, she mentioned how important it was to understand the connection between the mind and body. Fatigue from mental stress is becoming more common, making it hard for people to feel good both mentally and physically.
We all need more help with our mental health.
Williams found answers through mental health experts, which made her think about those without such access. “I hate thinking about how many people are stuck without answers or any tangible help,” she said. While small things like music or changing her hair helped her feel better, sometimes bigger support systems are necessary.
She concluded by highlighting organizations like Inclusive Therapists, Therapy for Black Girls, and the Trevor Project that work to make mental wellness more accessible and encouraged people to reach out if they felt connected to any of them.
This summer, Paramore joined Taylor Swift’s European Eras Tour and released their latest album, “This Is Why,” in February 2023.
